Solar Flare
Da Nang, Vietnam
DESCRIPTION
Solar Flare is a suspended sculpture designed to choreograph and harness the movement of the sun. Composed of interlocking acrylic forms floating above a garden canopy, the sculpture acts as a refractor that transforms and reflects raw sunlight into a variety of iridescent colors. The work is never static; its appearance evolves with the time of day, wind, season, and passing clouds. As light passes through the dichroic surfaces, it fractures into a spectrum of multicolored "flares" that dance across the garden grounds.
As a living bridge between the celestial and the terrestrial, Solar Flare draws the distant sun into dialogue with the garden below. Rather than treating sunlight as fixed and uniform, the work exposes how it is conditioned by material, atmosphere, and movement. In doing so, light becomes contingent – its form and intensity continuously altered as it moves from sky to earth.
